Abstract:
The documentation of Libras includes a set of materials made available through interfaces determined by Libras, a visual-spatial language, to be for research studies on the language itself and as a resource for teachers and lecturers, translators and Libras/Portuguese interpreters, as well as other educational purposes. These professional seek materials in Libras that have been arranged using sign language principles to be used in the classroom and to support their educational practices. There is a clear demand for materials that can be used for teaching purposes and are digitally accessible. Thus, the present proposal challenges technology and science to find solutions to create digital interfaces to access and read texts on video in Libras, a language produced on the body of its users through the hands and other body movements, with its own grammar that should not be confused with that of Portuguese or seen as merely gestures.
